
Pencil drawings can be done from photographs or else modeled by the subject, except small children.
A finished head to shoulder graphite drawing requires about three 4 hour sessions of modeling but is only for those who can sit for a long period of time.
Portraiture of children can only be done from photographs.
When photographs are taken by the artist, additional charge is applied to cover the cost of films and development.
$300 a head is a general basic estimate, usually consisting of a head to shoulders portrait. If more elements are desired, additional costs are the following:

A rendering of unusually complicated backgrounds, props, or costumes will be additionally charged, depending on the complexity.
A 30% deposit is required for all drawing orders.

Reference photographs will be taken by the artist. There is an additional charge for cost of films, development, and painting surface( canvas, board, etc.). There may be more than one photo session until the desired pose and composition are captured. Sometimes, a life and color sketch is done to obtain a better study of the subject. Upon the approval of the reference photo and small, simplified sketch of the painting (usually done in pencil), 50% deposit is required
To produce a single subject oil painting requires about a month to 6 weeks. If multiple subjects, or complicated costumes or props are involved, even more time may be needed. Minimum charge for an oil portrait (head to shoulder single subject) is $1,500.
